Goat Girl – sleep talk (chamber ensemble)

Following the anniversary of Below The Waste, Goat Girl decided to do what few dare: mess with their work. The result? Below The Waste – Orchestrated, a four-track EP that swaps noise for nuance.

‘sleep talk (chamber ensemble)’ leads the way—no drums, no distractions, just their signature three-part harmonies floating through fresh arrangements. The mellotron gets the axe, replaced by a string quartet that listens to Lottie Pendlebury’s vocals instead of competing with them.

Recorded live at Total Refreshment Centre (yes, really), mixed by Syd Kemp and mastered by Harvel Birrell, the EP features a cast of rising musicians like Aga Ujma and Slow Cooked. If you thought chamber music was for Sunday mornings and dusty libraries, Goat Girl’s here to gently disagree, with a flute and bass clarinet.

The full EP lands June 18, conveniently timed ahead of their long-overdue North American tour. It includes reworked versions of ‘perhaps’, ‘tcnc’, and ‘wasting’.
